Iran Starts the Construction of Two Nuclear Plants in Bushehr

Tehran, Sep 10 (Prensa Latina) First Vice President Eshaq Jahangiri Iran, today put up the project of construction operations of the second and third phases of the Bushehr nuclear plant with Russian assistance.

The new units in Bushehr will rise following models of nuclear plants called Third Generation-Plus certified by the European Organization Requirements Utility so it will use 'unique technology and a new concept of security, 'said the Russian side.

The agreement to expand cooperation in civil nuclear energy and build eight nuclear reactors in Bushehr was signed by Russia and Iran on November 11, 2014, but understanding to build the Bushehr-1 plant was completed in 1995 with the advice of the corporation Rosatom.

However, technical and financial issues made that the project was postponed several times until September 2011, when Bushehr-1 was operational, although it reached its maximum capacity of power generation in August the following year.

For its part, the project manager Mahmoud Jafari said that when the reactors remain operational two three, Iran will annually save 11 million barrels of oil and the issuance of seven million tons of greenhouse gases will be avoided.

Iran seeks to reduce its energy dependence on oil and gas with 20 nuclear facilities is scheduled to build in the coming years, including nine by Russian companies, he said.
