Minster for Capital Administration and Development Division (CADD) Tariq Fazal Chaudhry informed the national assembly that a total of Rs. 6040.15 million have been allocated for hospitals located in the federal capital during the fiscal year 2015-16.

The minister said that out of the total allocated funds, Rs. 3652.451 million has been allocated for Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), Rs.1939.082 million for Federal Government Poly Clinic Islamabad (FGPC), and Rs. 258.617 million for National Institute of Rehabilitation Medicine (NIRM), while Rs. 190.00 million has been earmarked for Federal General Hospital (FGH).

He said that patients are not kept on waiting lists for months for their ultrasound now, as the PIMS emergency ultrasounds are performed on urgent basis 24/7 including morning, evening and night shifts including during weekly and public holidays.

Tariq Chaudhry said that there is an excessive workload with only 4 operational units for up to 80 patients being examined during regular working hours and 60 patients during evening and night shifts.

The entitled patients at FGPC Hospital are adjusted within 2-3 days of their prescription time from OPD and are even entertained the same day, he added.

However, he said that general population is adjusted in 7-10 days (those with minor illnesses referred from OPD) in the hospital.

Emergency ultrasounds at FGPC, the minister said are performed on urgent basis 24/7 including morning, evening and night shifts along with weekly and public holidays.

Tariq said that patients are not kept on waiting lists for an ultrasound at NIRM Hospital, as it is done on the same or next day. However, he added that there is no such practice in the Federal General Hospital.

To another question, the minister said that no proposal is under consideration at Capital Administration & Development Division for the construction of a hospital in I-12.
