KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah reviewing progress of Rs10 billion Karachi package directed the concerned authorities to complete the on-going schemes on top priority and finalize the required formalities on the schemes to be taken up this month.
This he said while presiding over meeting to review the progress of Karachi Package.
The meeting was attended by Additional Chief Secretary (Dev) M. Waseem, Principal Secretary Naveed Kamran Baloch, Secretary Finance Hassan Naqvi, PD Karachi Package Niaz Soomro and others.
PD of the project Mr Niaz Soomro briefing the chief minister said that the scheme of rehabilitation of road from Do Talwar to Metropole Hotel via Teen Talwar Clifton launched at Rs110 million in August 2016. Presently its physical progress is 77percent and it would be completed in December, 2016.
The Road from Ch. Khaliq-uz-Zaman Intersection to Shaheen Complex via PIDC Chowk launched for Rs9.9 million in Sept 2016 has progress of 55 percent and it would be completed by January 2017.
Rehabilitation of road from Metropole to Zainab Market Roundabout of Rs3.09 million has 80 percent progress and to be completed in January 2018.
Improvement of footpath both sides and allied work from Shaheen Complex to Tower launched for Rs5.5 million has 65 percent progress and it would be completed by December 2016.
Repair and maintenance of road/patch work, including repair of footpath around Bin Qasim Park of Rs9.7 million has 60 percent progress and would be completed in January 2017.
The rehabilitation of Kamal Atta Turk Road at Sindh Secretariat launched for Rs9 million has 33 percent progress would be completed by January 2017.
The construction of main RCC pipe drain from Godhra Chwok to Shafiq Mor (7000 Road North) launched for Rs16.8 million has 35 percent progress and would be completed by January 2017.
Rehabiliation of Road No.3000 from Causeway to 8000 Road launched for Rs2.8 million has 30 percent progress. Rehabilitation of Expressway from Hino Chowrangi to Baloch Colony bridge (double track) has been started for Rs23.4 million has 65 percent progress and would be completed by Janauary 2017. Construction of road 4000 from Road 3000 to 5000 Road launched for Rs3.31 million has 40 percent would be completed by December 2016.
Reconstruction of Mehran Highway from Rice Godown to Hospital Chowarngi launched for Rs4.6 million has 10 percent progress and would be completed by January 2017. Construction of Culvert at Korangi Nallah near CBM College PAF for Rs4.2 million has 60 percent progress would be completed by December 2016.
Rehabilitation of storm water drain and road in front of Truck Stand from Gate 1 to 6 launched for Rs172.7 million has 20 percent progress and would be completed by January 2017.
Installation of LED light and poles at Shara-e-Faisal from Shahrah-i-Quaideen flyover to Natha Khan bridge launched for Rs69.8 million has only 10 percent progress and would be completed by December 2016. Installation of LED light and poles surrounding Quaid-e-Azam Mazar launched for Rs15.7 million has 80 percent progress and it would be finalized by December 2016. Improvement and rehabilitation of street lights system at Metropole to Zainab Market launched for Rs11.8 million has 50 percent would be completed by December 2016.
The chief minister said that the road from Hassan Square to Safoora Chowrangi urgently needs reconstruction. People are in pain who travel there. What is its progress, he asked the PD. The PD said that the tender documents have been issued and work would be awarded within 10 days.
The chief minister directed him to expedite it and he wants to see the progress. “today it is 10th time that I am reviewing the progress of the schemes, this shows how much worried I am for their completion,” he said and directed the PD to award the work to most reputed contractors and start it.
