LDA staff on Tuesday demolished nine buildings at different locations in the City on Tuesday which were constructed in contravention of building bylaws.
The LDA staff partially demolished two building constructed on plot number 34 at Tipu Block, New Garden Town and plot number 8 at Block A, New Muslim Town. It removed an internal wall built on plot number 122 at Abu Bakar Block, New Garden Town and sealed a building on plot 31 at Shadman.
During its operations in the Defence Road area, LDA staff demolished newly-constructed shops in Muhafiz Town, Phase II and demolished roof slab, boundary wall and partition walls of this structure. The staff also razed under-construction foundations along with frame structures and newly-constructed shops opposite DHA Rahbar. Scaffolding for construction of ground floor roof slab of a commercial hall was removed near Kahna Flyover. Construction without approval at Theh-Punjju village, Defence Road, was was stopped by removing scaffolding. Illegal subdivision of residential plot number 240-A at Venus Housing Scheme was also completely demolished.
Meanwhile, on the orders of LDA director general, a demolition squad has been set up for restraining construction of illegal buildings by instantaneously taking stern action against them. The squad will carry out its operations under the supervision of the LDA chief town planner from Thursday and undertake vigilance field visits to identifying buildings built in violation of building regulations.
Besides relevant officers of the Town Planning Wing and officials of police force, the squad will include demolition inspectors and anti-encroachment staff. It will have required machinery at its disposal.
