Provincial Minister for Education & Literacy, Jam Mehtab Hussain Dahar, has said that if the officers in Education Department were not willing to work hard then the government would have to go to the private sector and hand over the Education department to them.

He said this while presiding over a meeting of District Education Officers of Karachi Division here at the Sindh Secretariat Building. This was a follow up meeting to get feedback on a previous meeting. The minister for education asked those present to give progress reports regarding what has been done so far for the betterment of the education sector in metropolitan city.

He said it was really a matter of dissatisfaction that so far the education department had not been able to achieve its targets. The Minister for Education, Mehtab Dahar, also directed the officials to take disciplinary action against absent officers and added that the situation in Karachi’s education sector was unsatisfactory. The minister for E&l authorized DOs to transfer teachers according to the need, but said they should keep in mind that those teachers who were appointed through NTS, IBA Sukkur and Sindh University must be posted at Union Council Level.

Dahar also directed the officers to increase enrolment in the schools concerned, and pay regular visits at school assembly time, and send the pictures and videos of their visits to the Minister Education on Whatsapp in a timely manner.

He also directed that a letter be issued to District Education Officer Secondary Khairpur demanding explanation over his poor performance.

Secretary Education (Schools) Dr Fazlullah Pechuho, Special Secretary Education, Aalia Shahid and other officers also attended the meeting.
