Pakistan Railways Minister Khawaja Saad Rafique has stressed the need for modern and well-equipped railway terminals for locomotives, carriages and waggons.
Presiding over a meeting at Pakistan Railways headquarters, here on Saturday, he said new terminals should be constructed according to modern requirements to meet rising public and industrial demand.
He directed the concerned officials to ensure additional residential quarters, security, boundary wall, grounds, play areas, schools and buses for the staff of the Pipri Marshalling Yard Terminal so that employees are more motivated and can perform their duties better.
Earlier, a briefing was given regarding the up-gradation of the Diesel Shed Karachi and the construction of a new terminal at Pipri Marshalling Yard. The minister was also informed about the up-gradation work and machinery installation at Mughalpura Steel Workshop which he ordered for the next year.
Railways Chief Executive Officer Javaid Anwar, Advisor Anjum Pervaiz and other senior officers also attended the meeting.
