ISLAMABAD: Former Interior Minister and ruling Pakistan Muslim League (PML-Nawaz) stalwart Chaudhary Nisar Ali Khan had a significant meeting with Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi here in Islamabad on Thursday just before the commencement of the National Assembly sitting where a constitutional amendment was adopted.
The two leaders discussed prevailing political developments and took stock of situation arisen due to harsh comments offered by former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif about the verdict of judiciary. The two also discussed the mass contact campaign by PML-Nawaz and it will be kickstarted by Nawaz Sharif by addressing public meeting at Abbottabad on Sunday next.
They also discussed strategy to pass the constitutional amendment. Officially no detail has been given of what transpired in the meeting related to political affairs but sources maintained that they opted to work for reduction of tension between the party and certain institutions. They were of the view that grudges being narrated by Nawaz Sharif are well-placed but better way would be exercising restraint.
Chaudhary Nisar assured Prime Minister Abbasi that he would vehemently support the party on every forum and offer defence of Nawaz Sharif in his struggle for the leadership’s esteem and party’s glory. Later Chaudhary Nisar attended the National Assembly’s whole session sitting next to Abbasi in the house.
They were cheerful and having chat with the fellow members collectively. Discussing the local problems, Chaudhary Nisar drew attention of the Prime Minister about the sufferings of the people due to the sit-in at Faizabad adjacent to Murree Road. He called for the need for swift action and provision of alternative routes to the people.
Chaudhary impressed upon the Prime Minster to take action about removing the sit-in. He also complained about the slow pace of construction of Metro Station on the road to Motorway in Islamabad that will be leading to the new airport. It is causing great difficulties to the people of city and causing acute trouble to visitors coming from other cities, Nisar added.
Earlier a delegation of youth Jirga from Fata had a meeting with the Prime Minister and briefed him about the problems and demands of the people of Fata. The Jirga was comprised youth belonging to various political parties including Muslim Students Federation, Insaf Students, Qaumi Watan Party Youth Wing, Islami Jamiat Tulba, Fata Students Organisation, Pakhtun Students Organisation, Khayber Students Organisation and office bearers of other parties.
Federal Minister General Abdul Qadir Baloch and Geo News talk-show Jirga host Salim Saafi were also present during the meeting. The visitors demanded immediate merger of the Fata with KP province.
